WHAT ARE ICC'S CONCERNS?
Renewal in the Holy Spirit
Jesus said, "You shall receive power when the Holy
Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses. You shall be
baptized with the Holy Spirit." (Acts 1:8,6)
Around the world, millions of Christians are
experiencing the reality of BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT. As a move of
God's grace flowing in all the churches, the Pentecostal/ Charismatic
Renewal calls believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to radical dependence
upon the Holy Spirit. It has led to a greater quest for holiness, and a
new power and fruitfulness in ministry.
ICCOWE believes that this renewal in the Holy Spirit should be witnessed to, and shared, with others.
Towards Christian Unity
Jesus prayed, "Father, I pray that they may all be one, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 17:1,20,21)
Our divisions affront God. Efforts of evangelization
should not be another source of tension among the churches. For
evangelism to be fully effective, Christian unity - which encompasses a
healthy diversity - is needed.
ICC recognizes that Christians' common experience of
the Holy Spirit can make a distinctive contribution to the churches'
search for unity.
World Evangelization
Jesus said, "Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I
have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the
age." (Matthew 28:19-20) We believe that God has a clear purpose in
the present-day outpouring of the Holy Spirit: to empower believers to
witness to God's salvation in Christ throughout the world. Many
churches designated the 1990s as a "Decade of Evangelization". ICC has
sought to promote this vision by serving our churches and ecclesial
communities in its realization.

WHAT HAS ICC BEEN DOING?
The first major event was The ICCOWE BRIGHTON '91 Consultation: "That the world may believe" At
this conference, more than 3000 leaders, from all expressions of the
worldwide Pentecostal/Charismatic Renewal, made ringing affirmation of:
- a COMMITMENT to seek greater unity with fellow Christians;
- the GOAL of reaching all nations for Christ.
After Brighton Christians the world over are identifying with ICC's vision. They see it as a way of becoming more effective in service to God.
ICC is committed to share the message of Brighton '91 within our churches and ecclesial communities:
- Smaller, country or regional consultations - for example in Malaysia in 1994 and Prague in 1997.
- "Celebrate Jesus 2000" conferences were held in Penang,Malaysia in March 2000, and Prague, Czech Republic in August 2000
- There will continue to be theological meetings,
of recognized theologians, to articulate and deepen the understanding
of God's purpose in the present-day outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Such
meetings were held in Prague in 1997 and 2000, and in Malta in 2004, alongside the general
conferences.
- ICC encourages appropriate consultation on
evangelization. It looks for ways to foster the unity of Christians in
order to enhance outreach to unbelievers.
- ICC's statement of Visions and Goals summarizes the foundation and methods of it work.
The impetus for unity is spreading, as Christians proclaim the Good News, and witness to its power by acts of love.
